Automotive Dimmer Switch
You're probably familiar with the dashboard dimmer switch on your car. You can use it to control the brightness of your dashboard panel lights. This component produced by SCG is part of a dashboard dimmer switch, and it has ended up in a wide range of car models.
Our Approach
The goal was to develop a process that would produce and package 100% electrically tested production parts in a fully automated production work cell. We were able to leverage our vertical integration of precision progressive stamping with our continuous feed molding capabilities. Using our automation competency, we developed a unique manufacturing solution for this part. We worked with our customer's design group and optimized part design to better deploy the most efficient "Design For Manufacturing" ideas. The resulting production method integrated reel to reel stamping with a continuous strip molding cell. The product was then tested and packaged automatically in custom reusable shipping tubes.
