Tore Steen - Board Member
After a career as CEO of both private and public companies, Tore now serves as a director on several corporate boards and as a strategic advisor to CEO’s. A proven leader, entrepreneur, strategist and team-builder, Tore has built and managed major public (NYSE, LSE, NASDAQ) and private companies in the United States and around the world. As CEO of World Intelligent Network, LLC, Tore and his associates assist in planning and forming boards of directors or advisors and provide interim senior management for special situations. He has also attended the Board Executive Program at Harvard Business School.
In his native Norway, Tore served with the Royal Norwegian Air Force. After an honorable discharge, he was awarded a scholarship to study in the United States, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing and Computer Science. He followed this with an MBA in Finance and International Trade, at the University of Oregon. After obtaining his MBA, Tore worked in the banking and financial services industry for almost two decades, first with Citibank and then with Chemical Bank (now JPMorgan).
Tore’s experience spans a broad array of industries—such as finance, technology, maritime shipping, health care, and multimedia. He is also active in charitable organizations and fundraising. He has been a frequent speaker and organizer for various conferences, including the White House Drug Advisory Council hosted by President Bush. While a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, Tore served as chapter chair of the Metro New York Chapter. He also served on the YPO International Board for six years from 1982-88. Tore is a member of and has served on the international Boards of the World Presidents’ Organization and the Chief Executives Organization. Some of his other past boards include Deckers Outdoor Corporation (UGG, Teva), The Mangum Group (a large NC construction company), Outward Bound, Flexi-Van Corp., Castle & Cooke (Dole), NMR of America and a number of other corporate and civic boards.
A professional ski instructor and former ski-racer and coach, Tore is passionate about all aspects of the outdoors. Tore currently resides in Park City, Utah and Thousand Oaks, California, while his six successful children live in Paris (France), Taichung, Taiwan, Eugene and Portland (Oregon), and Austin, Texas.
