History
Innovation Attracts Attention - Solid State Stamping, Inc.

Solid State Stamping, Inc. was co-founded in 1977 by Ed Putnam and his partner. Together they invented "bandoliering", a manufacturing process to produce electronic contacts on a band known as a bandolier. This innovation came at just the right time as the world began to enter the "Information Age", which would require electronic contacts like never before to produce computers, automobiles, and communication devices. S3’s advanced technology triggered the interest of Brad Adams, President of Durable Wire, a Connecticut based wire technology company.
In December 1986, Durable Wire acquired S3 and once the technologies of the two companies were united, Brad Adams, CEO of Solid State Stamping, began to grow the business dynamically.
By 1988, S3 required more factory space so the company moved from Orange, California to Temecula, California where it continued to grow. In 2003 S3 formed Sunstone Plating, a subsidiary of S3 that performs electroplating. To this day, having control over the electroplating process secures greater quality assurance for our customers.
S3 became the world leader in electronic contact technology, manufacturing a wide variety of precision made connector pins and contacts and other stamped parts for electronic applications. S3 has produced more than 30 billion parts in a wide variety of designs and sizes, both plated and unplated.
